New Chef-Curated Pairing Plate

For centuries, people have sought the ideal food and wine pairings to complement their enjoyment of each dining experience. The best pairings are ones where the wine enhances the flavors and textures of the food without conflicting with the intended taste of the serving.

However, pairing is a two-way street. A haphazardly paired food may also collide with the flavors and nuances of an otherwise excellent wine resulting in a less than positive taste experience.

In his mission to identify the best food-to-wine synergies, Chef MikeC of Jessup Cellars and his team work tirelessly to identify the perfect food pairing plate to serve with the Winery’s highly educational and entertaining wine tasting experiences.

A Journey to Perfection

Jessup Cellars, one of the best wineries in Yountville, is on a mission to create an enjoyable wine tasting experience that also embodies a unique educational exploration into the art and science of food and wine pairing.

To accomplish the Winery’s objective, Jessup Cellar’s Chef MikeC, a longtime Napa Valley resident and food educator, has worked tirelessly to define the characteristics of certain foods that will enhance, rather than detract from, the enjoyment of each wine.

The search for the right pairing has led Chef’s quest to several areas of the United States and abroad.

For example, as we know, cheeses come in an almost infinite array of types, forms, and styles. The selection process for choosing the best cheeses for Jessup Cellars’ wine and cheese pairings required extensive research. Along with some other small bites, the Chef and his crew finally identified specific cheese options to bring to Jessup’s current wine and cheese pairing selections.

The final choices for Jessup Cellars Spring Tasting are:

  • Comté cheese, a French cheese made from unpasteurized cow’s milk.
  • Prairie Breeze Aged Cheddar by Milton Creamery in Milton, Iowa
  • Beemster Cheese, a hard Dutch cow’s milk cheese

The new Spring Wine and Cheese Pairings will also include salame, cashews, raisins, and crackers to further enhance the wine tasting experience.
