Art and wine share a deep connection, each sparking emotion and conversation. At Jessup Cellars, this synergy is celebrated through exceptional art exhibitions. This season, Jessup Cellars proudly presents the work of Jason Myers, an acclaimed contemporary artist whose thought-provoking creations will be on display until May 2025.
Meet Jason Myers: A Visionary in Contemporary Art
Jason Myers is an American contemporary artist known for his layered and texturally rich works blending painting, sculpture, and digital media. With a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA from American University, Myers has studios in Indiana and the Netherlands. His work explores identity, technology, and the human condition, using intricate detailing, bold colors, and a fusion of traditional and modern materials.
Background and Influence
Myers’ experience spans various media, many of which he has taught at the university level. His work merges traditional artistic elements with industrial materials like steel, resin, and digital prints, creating complex, layered pieces that reflect political and socioeconomic themes. Eschewing the conventional artist path, Myers prefers a solitary approach, dedicating up to a year to each work.
His acclaim continues to grow, with exhibitions across the U.S. and internationally. Notable showcases include his solo museum exhibit “STATUS: fluid/dynamic” at The Polk Museum of Florida and his monumental 60-foot sculpture for the Lowlands Music Festival in the Netherlands. His work is in the permanent collections of institutions like the Indianapolis Museum of Art and has been featured in exhibitions at The Mint Museum and Museum de Fundatie.
