Great wine can engage in conversation with other works of art. Just as food and wine are more powerful together, so are wine and other forms of art. Our sense of sight is intricately linked to our sense of smell and taste, and pairing fine art with fine wine is something every wine lover (and art collector) must try.
Even the room you’re in can influence how you experience a wine’s texture and flavor. In return, the aromas and texture in wine can add a layer of sensory response when you view the artwork. We can’t think of a better pairing and that’s why we encourage our guests to visit the Tasting Gallery at Jessup Cellars for a unique viewing experience.
Discovering Wine and Art Near Me: A Local Guide
The Napa Valley is a wonderful place for lovers of fine art, for there are plenty of unique galleries around us paired with award-winning wines. If you’re planning a trip with the theme of “wine and art near me,” we’ve put together a guide just for you.
Cliff Lede Vineyards
Off Yountville Cross Road, Cliff Lede Vineyards offers an array of tastings, but art enthusiasts will want to book their Backstage Tasting Lounge. This tasting is set in their exclusive lounge that features rotating art exhibits. The winery itself is a work of architectural art, and the winery enjoys a modern aesthetic with a classic rock edge, often hosting local musicians.
Hess Persson Estates
Visit Hess Persson Estates in Mount Veeder to witness the Hess Art Collection, which began in Donald Hess’s home. The collection features modern art that often follows an artist throughout their career. You can take a guided tour with their Director of Art and follow it up with a tasting of estate-grown wines and chef-prepared food.
HALL Wines
Craig and Kathryn Hall are lifelong art collectors, and their winery is where stunning artwork meets modern architecture. The collection features a wide array of artists and invites the viewer to experience the diversity of mediums, colors, and themes. Visit the St. Helena estate for an in-depth tour of their artwork, paired with a tasting of HALL’s wines.
Acumen Wine
Acumen Wine shares our love of wine and art at their tasting room in downtown Napa. Private and group tastings are offered, and visitors are invited to visit the Acumen Art Gallery from 12pm-6pm daily. The gallery features a mix of emerging and established artists, side by side, and each artist in residence is encouraged to reimagine the space.
Jessup Cellars: Your Wine & Art Destination
Art enthusiasts will not want to miss the Tasting Gallery at Jessup Cellars, a place where you’re invited to reflect on the art, the artist, the wine, and the sense of place all at once. The Tasting Gallery is an immersive experience where you can sip on unique wines and slowly experience how taste and sight inform one another.
This summer, our artist in residence is Jermaine Danté. A certified sommelier, Danté captures the essence of wine country in many of his pieces. With bold colors, dynamic composition, and stunning detail, Danté additionally paints pop culture icons and esoteric pieces that consider themes of liberation, freedom, nature, and love.
On September 21st, join us for a unique tasting experience, The Synchronicity of Tastemakers: An Evening of Wine, Food and Arts. You’ll have the chance to witness Danté’s exceptional work and the culinary art of Chef Nelson German paired with five Jessup Cellars Wines.
On October 11th, join us as we welcome our newest resident artist Penelope Moore. Penelope will paint live and speak on what drives her particular style of art while we fellowship over wine, delicious and authentic Mexican food from Fiesta del Sol, and music by DJ Kitten Whiskers.
Visit us at Jessup Cellars to learn how wine can be a vehicle for different ways of thinking about the world, and how art can evoke perspectives that pair perfectly with wine.
