5 Wines to Enjoy this Fall

As seasons change, the autumn foliage will fall around us. The innocent and endearing weather will provide us her familiar festive bounty and a sense of normalcy amid the worry in the world. For us, fall is a time to re-consider what we’re uncorking. Our winemaker Rob Lloyd believes fall time is for light-to-medium bodied red and white varieties. Wines that provide the perfect middle ground between light, crisp and quenching summer favorites and smooth, unctuous and warming winter wines. Here’s our curation of bonfire ready favorites for enjoying with food, friends and family.

Chardonnay

If there was ever a time to enjoy more densely structured Chardonnay, it’s during fall festivities. Here in Napa as the mercury declines, so too does our desire for ultra-bright and crisp white wines. Chardonnay with added texture and a warming hint of oak plays well with richer cuisine like caramelized squash ravioli or buttery toasted piecrusts.

Ma Chérie Rosé

Lovers of outdoor summer dining with rosé in hand may be glad to know rosé is still on our drinking list as we enter into fall. Rosé wines come in all styles. Our Ma Cherie Rosé is crafted from Carignane grapes lending slightly more structure and generosity of fruit flavor. Our medium bodied and dry rosé exudes ripe aromas of pomegranate and cranberry. Rosé wines that feature a mild savory palate pair delightfully well with flame-grilled poultry, shellfish, spiced fall veg and seasonal salads.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir ticks all the boxes for a light-to-medium bodied, aromatic red wine with the added bonus of being an excellent wine for food pairing. During this time, everyone deserves a pouring of divine wine. That is why we’re giving you the keys to our premium cellar and granting you rare access to our Jessup Cellars Library collection including our 2014 Jessup Block II Pinot Noir. This back-vintage bottling provides a multi-layered and complex expression of Pinot Noir. Great with succulent roast duck, mushroom pithivier or rosemary and sweetcorn grits.

 ‘Table for Four

Our Table of Four presents one of the less obvious among the selection. This effortlessly enjoyable wine embodies our signature qualities, being elegant, expressive and approachable. The blending of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon provides brooding black fruit depth while Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Petit Sirah lend violet perfume and smoky aromatic spice notes to compliment all of your festive holiday roasts as well as sweet and savory desserts.

Fortified Wine

Our Infinite Recursion – 10th Reflection delivers a magically sweet and decadent dessert wine to enjoy through the fall season. Our limited-production fortified Cabernet offers a truly original wine with very fragrant violet and mint aromas and the allure of stewed cherry, spiced plum, blackberry and licorice.
