Jessup Cellars – 2019 Pinot Noir Release & Carneros AVA

The arrival of Fall sees a change-up of what we’re pouring when entertaining friends and family at home. For wine lovers, the cooler weather in Fall provides an opportunity to pop and uncork some slightly richer wines than what we might enjoy through Summer. Winemaker Rob sees Fall as a great time to decant medium bodied wines that complement the amazing spread of food we enjoy this time of year. Among our awesome range of sweater weather wines is our new release of our 2019 Carneros Pinot Noir. If you’re visiting our Yountville winery this season, be sure to ask for our new release Pinot!

Fall is the sweet spot between warmer days and the brisk winter season. Hot on the table, you’ll find a festive spread of your favorite Fall foods. Whether it’s warm seasonal salads, squash pastas, roasted root veg and Fall mushrooms, or braised meats, hearty roasts and Thanksgiving turkey. The perfect wine to pair with any assortment of foods is delicate and aromatic Pinot Noir. The reason being, is that light, fragrant and ethereal wines work wonderfully with food.

Our Pinot Noir (like our Chardonnay and Merlot) is sourced from Napa’s famous Truchard Vineyards in Los Carneros. The Truchard family are pioneers of cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the vineyard uniquely defined by the marine influence of the nearby San Pablo Bay. Like many wineries near Yountville and Napa, grapes are harvested in the cool hours of the morning before being whisked to our winery facility for pressing.

Grown in the cool climate of Los Carneros region, this Pinot Noir is singing with bright-toned notes of red fruit including cranberry, rhubarb and pomegranate. A fruit forward bouquet is complemented by earthy hints of black tea and dried herbs. Bright bursts of quenching acidity and soft tannins offer satisfying first sips. Flavors of tart bring cherry, crushed raspberry, and cranberry sorbet follow, leaving you simply wanting more! Show up and make a statement at the Thanksgiving this year or simply treat the family to something special with your mid-week meal. A light and crunchy palette also pairs perfectly well with a roasted rack of lamb, or brandy torched scallops Provençal.

This year’s release of our Carneros Pinot Noir welcomes an element of richness with the blending of 3% Petite Sirah. The well-balanced medley is then aged in 50% new French oak delivering a wine to enjoy immediately or extend cellaring as you please for 2-to-4 years.
