Thomas Ramey
Thomas Ramey is a metal artist with over 25 years of experience creating large-scale sculptures, furniture, and architectural projects. Starting as an apprentice in high school, he later returned to art after a decade as a touring musician. In 1999, he opened a studio in Indianapolis, gaining attention from designers and architects. Known for his work with mild steel and recycled materials, Thomas appeared on the Discovery Channel’s “Wingnuts” and “Monster House.” His major commissions include a 7-piece sculpture installation at Dehaan Sculpture Park in Indianapolis. In 2012, he moved to Sacramento to focus on sculpture and was featured on the FYI Network’s “Red Hot Design” in 2014. His work has been exhibited widely at galleries and art fairs across the U.S., characterized by geometric design and meticulous craftsmanship.
CURRENT RESIDENT ARTIST
Marty Balogh
In 2019, after suffering a stroke, Marty embarked on a transformative artistic journey, capturing the world through photography. Initially expressing his shock with uninhibited paintings, he soon shifted to abstract photography, using specialized equipment to explore mystical landscapes and mysterious entities. His paintings became a catalyst for this deeper exploration of self and perception.
Working from his San Francisco studio, Marty’s photographic process is an “archaeological dig,” where he discovers unknown revelations only after downloading the images. To intensify their impact, he prints his photos on metal plates with a high gloss finish, allowing each image to unfold a unique narrative for the viewer. Originally from Detroit and Chicago, Marty’s background in managing an alternative band and a career in advertising as a TV commercial writer/director led him to develop a passion for artistic media. Now, he invites viewers to explore his photographic discoveries.
JESSUP ART GALLERY CURATOR
Julie Eppich
Based in Napa Valley, Julie brings a diverse perspective with 25 years of experience in international visual arts and events management. Julie has a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Indiana University, and along with her business background, has always had a commitment and passion to the world of the arts.
Julie’s primary work experience in the arts began during the 3 years she lived in Singapore. During this time, through her work with local Asian art companies, she studied Chinese antiquities as well as contemporary Asian fine art. Julie had the unique experience of marketing, developing and managing a gallery concept which was ultimately opened in the world famous Raffles Hotel in Singapore. She returned to the US to open her own Asian art gallery in the renowned River North Gallery District in Chicago. Julie spent close to a decade traveling Southeast Asia seeking out and representing overseas artists, and supporting their works and cultures in her gallery. Julie currently serves as Vice Chair of the Public Art Steering Committee for the City of Napa.
