CURRENT RESIDENT ARTIST

Emil Yanos

Emil Yanos is a ceramic sculptor whose organic, earth-inspired forms reflect over three decades of artistic exploration. Trained in both floral and graphic design, Emil began working with clay in 1993, drawn to its tactile nature and expressive potential. He studied at the University of Hawaii and earned a BFA from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco before completing his floral design certification at City College of San Francisco. In 2003, he was inducted into the American Institute of Floral Designers.

Combining his design background with a sculptural sensibility, Emil’s work emphasizes texture, color layering, and emotional resonance. His forms often feel ancient yet refined, shaped by techniques like stretching and pulling to reveal the natural character of the clay. Emil’s floral arrangements also echo his sculptural aesthetic, blending structure with softness. His work has been showcased in galleries and design spaces, admired for its balance of simplicity, craftsmanship, and elemental beauty.
