Resident Artist & Curator Cynthia Carey Shares a Moment with Blumer During His Surrealism Decanted Dinner in 2013 at Jessup Cellars in Yountville, California

The final 2015 installment of Jessup Cellars’ TasteMaker Series welcomes gastronaut, television personality, artist and author Bob Blumer back to Jessup Cellars’ Yountville Tasting Gallery on Saturday, October 10th for a Surreal Harvest dinner. Winemaker Rob Lloyd will join Blumer for an evening of surreal dishes paired with storytelling and Jessup Cellars wines. The interactive winemaker five-course dinner is $150.00 all-inclusive. Tickets available at CellarPass.com.

“One of my all time favorite dinners that I have ever experienced,” said Lloyd when asked the 2013 Surrealism Decanted dinner with Blumer. “I love art where I can tell that the artist put a lot of thought into what they are doing, and the dinner with Bob was such an artful event. It’s great when the wines pair with the meal served, but it goes another level when the meal is visually stunning and mentally surprises your taste buds. You have to be there to fully comprehend what a Blumer Surreal Meal means.”

The evening’s whimsical menu includes Shrimp on the Barbie, and Cracker Jack Soup (a playfully presented corn veloute)—both paired with Jessup Cellars 2014 Viognier. Duck Sno-Cones paired with Jessup Cellars 2012 Manny’s Blend. Life is a Box of Chocolates (hint: they’re not really chocolates) paired with one of Jessup Cellars flagship wines, the 2011 Juel. The feast closes with a Caramelized Pear and Walnut Pesto Pizza paired with Jessup Cellars 2009 Zinfandel Port.

Blumer’s creative vision has been inspired by many events. He’s created mind-bending meals at the Salvador Dali Museum and toured the country in an Airstream trailer he converted into a rolling professional kitchen that resembled a giant Claus Ogdenberg-like toaster to promote his cookbook, Off the Eaten Path. Blumer has created and hosted three television series including Surreal Gourmet, Glutton for Punishment and World’s Weirdest Restaurants (as seen on the Food Network). Bob holds seven Guinness World Records in various culinary categories.
