Holiday Wine Gift Idea #2

Of course you are currently scrolling through the Jessup Cellars website right now, trying to decide the perfect bottle of wine to buy for all of the people (21+) on your list this holiday season. (Need an interesting container for that bottle?  See my previous post: Holiday Wine Gift Idea) My suggestion for the best bottle to gift: 2008 Table for Four.  This wine left my husband and I speechless when we first tried it in the Yountville tasting room, and it continues to please each and every time we open a bottle! Mulling about mulled wine…

Tis the season for ugly sweaters, congested social calendars, and verrrry full bellies.  This past weekend was holiday party-hopping fo’ sho’, with lots of the same ol’ … potluck fare, sweet treats, and vino {Jessup’s Cab Sauv + Stacy’s Simply Cocoa Pita Chips = perfect pairing ever}, sprinkled in with some new found traditions.  Funny that Morgan should mention cookie exchanges, because that was exactly one of my stops on this weekend’s holiday party train. Holiday Cookie Exchange Cranberry Biscotti Recipe

One of my favorite holiday traditions is getting together with girlfriends for a cookie exchange.  Everyone bakes a few of their favorite kinds of cookies and at the end of the day (after enjoying some wine, of course) you all exchange so everyone has many different kinds of cookies to take home with them!  (Living in New York City, I haven’t been able to do this for several years as our apartment is spacially-challenged.)  I highly recommend picking a Saturday, gathering some friends, and going after some cookie recipes.  While you do that, check out some of the Jessup wines that you can still order before the holidays.  My favorites with holiday cookies are the Sauvignon Blanc or the Pinot Noir. Napa Christmas Getaway Ideas!

Thinking of mixing up the holidays this season?  How about going to Yountville!?  When most people think of Christmas getaways they usually think of the skiing in the mountains or just curling up by the fire, but the Napa Valley actually offers a wide variety of winter festivities!  And I’ll bet you didn’t know that winter (technically late fall through April) is Cabernet season too!

Post Thanksgiving Digest(ion)

What goes with Turkey? (I can hear it now!)

“Zinfandel. The all-American wine with the all-American dinner.”

“Gewürztraminer, the natural match for turkey.”

“Why not try Beaujolais Nouveau? ‘Tis the season, and it goes with everything!” Continue reading

It’s Been A While…

Raise your hand if you’re a bad blogger {hand raised}.   Sad face.

Sorry Jessup lovers.  I totes left you hanging over the past month.  Blogging + unemployment was easy breezy.  Blogging + employment on the other hand, I’ve learned is no small fry task.  And I have zero excuses because Alan, Morgan, and Scott have managed just fine.  I clearly have some multi-tasking chops to develop.  As Joey Tribiani says… “I’mmmmm saaaawwwrrreeeee” {with finger quotes}.  I promise to be a better blogger.  One that actually blogs. Thanksgiving Plans

Got plans for tomorrow’s big Turkey Day?  My fiancé and I are driving down to San Diego and spending some time with her family. Every year her brother cooks an amazing feast for the entire family and the only thing I have to offer is my huge appetite. ;-) So in hopes of changing things up this year, I am going to present some of my favorite Thanksgiving Day dessert recipes and my suggested Jessup wine pairings!
